Enhancing A Radiomics-Based Pathological Response Prediction for Locally Advanced Rectum Cancer

1. Abstract 1.1. Aims: This study aims to further enhance a validated radiomics-based model for predicting pathologic complete response (pCR) after chemo‑radiotherapy (CRT) in LARCs for use in the clinical practice. 1.2. Methods: A generalized linear model (GLM) to predict pCR in LARC patients previously trained in Europe and validated with external inter-continental cohort (59 …

Atypical Initial Presentation of Crohn’s Disease: Inflammatory Ampullary Pseudotumor Causing Obstruction of the Common Bile Duct – A Case Report and Review of the Literature of Pseudotumors Linked to Crohn’s Disease

1. Introduction Crohn’s disease extraintestinal manifestations have been well described in the literature and in many cases may precede the diagnosis of the disease. However, the findings of an inflammatory pseudotumor, at different organs of the body, is rare especially those presenting in the peripancreatic (such as ampulla of Vater) and pancreatic area, and obstructing …

Malignant Tracheo-Esophageal Fistula: Case Report

1. Abstract A 64-year-old male patient diagnosed with locally advanced esophageal cancer complicated by tracheo-esophageal fistula. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), contrasted CT and PET-CT showed mid esophageal lesion. Bronchial fibroscopy (BFS) revealed protruding nodular mass invasion from esophagus at the distal trachea and fistula.

Salvia Miltiorrhiza Ameliorates Disease Progression in Dextran-Sodium-Sulfate Induced Colitis in Mice

1. Abstract Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM, or Danshen) extract has been approved by China FDA for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases owing to its potent anti-inflammatory effects. Whether SM may be used to treat Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) remains elusive. In the current study, Dextran-Sodium-Sulfate (DSS) induced colitis in mice was used as a …

Aggressive Cholecystitis Mimicking Gallbladder Cancer

1. Abstract Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (XGC) is a benign uncommon variant of chronic cholecystitis. Perioperative findings may lead to confusion with gallbladder cancer, as the inflammation frequently extends to adjacent organs. In this report, we present a 50-year-old woman with a 2- years history of chronic abdominal pain and imaging suggestive of gallbladder carcinoma. The pathological …
